DJ CLSCOTT: Began his DJing journey at the end of high school in 1980, alongside his close friends. His brother from another mother, Charlie “Be Easy” Thompson, decided to take their passion to the next level. They started out raw, spinning at house parties with basic equipment (apologies to his uncle for the blown amp). His love for house music truly blossomed while working at Disco Brown, a local record store in Montclair, NJ (R.I.P. Paradise Disco). He and Be Easy’s reputation grew locally, leading them to perform at clubs like Sultan’s 2001, The Racket Ball Club, El Castille, and other venues in the area like the Peppermint Lounge. This exposure landed him to stint on Seton Hall’s radio station, WSOU. He took a break from public performances to pursue a 25-year career in law enforcement, but his passion for DJing never waned. He kept his skills sharp by playing at home and staying connected to the music. After retiring from the police department in 2011, He relocated to Durham, North Carolina (Bull City) and resumed DJing with his beautiful wife and partner, DJ BossLady. Together, they founded the Durham House Music Meetup group, which quickly gained momentum. This led to opportunities as a resident and guest DJ on various online platforms like WNAA House 90.1 and Dancegruv.net. Reconnecting with his brother Charlie (Be Easy) has been a highlight of his journey. His DJing style is heavily influenced by his idol, Shep Pettibone, who was a DJ at NYC’s KISS FM. Some of his favorite clubs from back in the day include the legendary Paradise Garage, Zanzibar, and Bonds. Currently, he is a part of several DJ groups, including Black Diamond DJs and Unified Stereo. You can catch him spinning every first Saturday between 9-10 PM on House 90.1 (WNAA, located on the campus of NCA&T) and Fridays on SLS.
