Although raised in North Carolina, I spent the first nearly 10 years of my life in upstate New York (Albany and Buffalo). In 1980 while in Buffalo on vacation with my family to see friends of the family, a friend took my brother and I to a pool party that had a DJ, and he proceeded to do something I'd never seen before, and that was to scratch the opening of Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks". At that precise moment I fell in love with music and the art of DJ'ing.

Let's fast forward to the mid-90's to when I was DJ'ing at clubs in and around Charlotte, playing hip hop/R&B, reggae, Miami bass, and house music. After leaving the area to attend law school, I started DJ'ing law school events in Durham, CIAA parties, private parties, while never giving up on my appreciation for this thing called house, which grew deeper after getting involved in the local house music scene here in Raleigh in 2009, where I met people and was eventually asked to submit mixes on a monthly basis to A&T's radio station, WNAA 90.1, something that I've been doing since 2012.
